Tutoring

Students need to sign up in advance for each semester. Each student in the program is matched up with a volunteer tutor for a weekly evening session.

General Information

WHAT IS TUTORING?

Tutoring is a free service offered to all Career Awareness Program participants. Each student is paired with one tutor and is able to choose which subject area he/she wants to work on.

WHERE DOES TUTORING TAKE PLACE?

Tutoring takes place in The Fresh Air Fund’s Manhattan office, located at 633 Third Avenue, 14th Floor, between 40th and 41st Streets. Students can take the 4, 5, 6, 7, or S to Grand Central Station.

WHEN IS TUTORING?

Tutoring runs on a semester by semester basis. Fall Semester is from September- December and Spring Semester is from January-May. Students choose one night to attend for the entire semester (Monday, Tuesday or Thursday) and should arrive at the office no later than 5:45 PM on their selected day. Each session runs from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM.

HOW DO I SIGN UP MY CHILD?

You need to complete and send in (1) permission slip, (2) tutoring contract, and (3) a copy of your child’s most RECENT report card. Slots are filled on a first come, first serve basis only to students who have turned in all three required documents. Confirmation phone calls will be made to notify you if your child has been given a slot.
