Learn About Sharpe Reservation

Located in the Hudson Valley, The Fresh Air Fund’s Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill, NY, has over 2,000 acres of beautiful land with lakes, ponds, streams and hiking trails through the woods.

During the school year, close to 18,000 people from community and school groups in the tristate area participate in our year-round environmental educational programs.

WE OFFER…

student, and community groups hands-on, interactive experiences to learn about the environment and explore nature. Groups visit the Sharpe Environmental Center, the Gustafson Planetarium, our high and low ropes courses, and the numerous nature trails across the Reservation.

Our programs are customized to meet the unique needs of each group. We focus on teaching team-building, problem solving, critical thinking, and effective communication.

Maple Festival

Special events at our fun and free Sugar Maple Celebration include a Maple Syrup Judging Contest, Local Crafts and Food Market, Planetarium Show, Maple Sugaring Demonstration, and more!

Winter Days

Winter day programs at our nature center offer a mix of both indoor and outdoor classes. Groups explore the forest on snowshoes, watch and study our visiting birds, observe signs of wildlife, and more. Hot chocolate rounds out the day!

The Planetarium

A fully-equipped 48 seat theater reveals the wonders of the night sky. All programs teach students to identify constellations and about current celestial events. Shows can be scheduled separately or as part of a school trip.
