Explorers is…

designed using a project-based and Common Core learning curriculum to foster a love of learning and build confidence. Taking full advantage of the incredible resources at camp, children learn through inquiry. The program places an emphasis on hands-on learning in the outdoors.

During a four-week period participants have academic instruction with a focus on project based learning and also participate in camp activities including swimming, hiking nature trails, art and music classes and team sports.

  • Our Explorers partners include schools in Districts 6, 7, 10, 11, 19, and 23. School administrators identify and nominate students who would benefit from a learning boost during the summer to thrive in seventh-grade
  • There are 72 sixth-grade students (from districts 6, 7, 10, 11, 19, and 23) in the program
  • A 1:6 staff ratio
  • 80+ hours of learning
