Operations Staff

Our camps are located on Sharpe Reservation in Fishkill, NY, which is set over 2,000 acres of beautiful land with lakes, ponds, streams and hiking trails through the woods. Sharpe Reservation hires seasonal staff to work in a variety of roles to help keep our camps running smoothly. These positions are paid hourly and do not include room and board unless indicated in the job description below. Approximate employment dates are from mid-June through the end of August.

Sharpe Operations Staff

Position Description:

  • Order and deliver supplies as requested by camps.
  • Pick up special-order items from local businesses.
  • Unload, organize and keep accurate inventory of warehouse supplies.
  • Pick up dirty linen/laundry from each camp daily; deliver clean linen to camps daily.
  • Pick up mail, sorting and delivering mail to each camp daily.
  • Clean and maintain warehouse, open and supervise staff lodge during open hours, clean washing machines/dryers at staff lodge and clean staff lodge and bathrooms.
  • Drive camp vehicle around property for supply pick-up/drop-off.
  • Move mattresses, chairs, AV equipment, etc. as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp.
  • Current driver’s license required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Friendly, outgoing, flexible, organized and self-motivated.
  • Proficient with basic computer skills.

Van Driver

Position Description:

  • Inspect and ensure vehicle is safe and ready to use.
  • Perform all support services assigned by the Operations Coordinator.
  • Pick up counselors at designated time.
  • Coordinate pickup of campers for medical run.
  • Coordinate prescription pickups at local pharmacies.
  • Assist with warehouse responsibilities in between van runs.
  • Inspect, organize, clean and lock the staff building.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age by the start of camp.
  • Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Comfortable driving larger vehicles.
  • Ability to prioritize and maintain a schedule.
  • Friendly, outgoing, flexible, organized and self-motivated.
  • Good communication skills.

Camp IT Specialist

Position Description:

  • Responsible for supporting the technology used at camp which includes Windows, Chrome OS and Apple computers, laser printers, network hardware and AV support.
  • Manage and maintain approximately 110 computers, along with all peripherals, applications and associated technology.
  • Scan summer camper forms into database at the end of each camp session.
  • Participate in project work directed by NYC-based IT team.
  • Excellent opportunity for recent Computer Science graduates to gain professional experience.


Qualifications:

  • Must be available for a 40-hour work week during the contract period. For non-local candidates, housing is available during employment.
  • 1-2 years of experience supporting Windows-based desktop and laptop PCs and Macs including troubleshooting hardware issues and replacing hardware on both desktop and laptop PCs and Macs. Computer Science majors or recent graduates with less experiences will be considered.
  • Experience with wireless networks especially troubleshooting connectivity.
  • Experience installing software, patches and updates.
  • Experience troubleshooting basic printing problems.
  • Familiarity with basic programming and/or web design.
  • Ability to interact with users of varying skill levels.
  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Willingness to work in a children’s camp environment.
  • Current driver’s license required.
