Fresh Air Smiles, Laughter and Fun: A Look Back at Summer 2020

We are counting down the days to Fresh Air Summer 2021! We are excited to continue the programs we launched last summer and for our Summer Teen Academy to expand. We are also launching a new Friendly Towns Connect Program.

When we take a look back at Summer 2020 — we see kids smiling, laughing, running outside, having new experiences and making special memories! We reimagined summer and ensured that children could still have a summer that could last a lifetime!

Whether children learned to fish on a Family Wellness trip or virtually attended camp through Fresh Air Everywhere, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic, The Fresh Air Fund continued to provide safe, fun, engaging and enriching summer opportunities for Fresh Air kids and families. Though Summer 2020 was very different than previous Fresh Air summers, the memories, smiles and fun made it a summer we will always remember!

Families don’t have to worry about making a mess at Camp Junior! In fact, they have fun doing it! Family Wellness day trips offer a ton of fun activities for the whole family including arts and crafts, boating, hiking, kite making and so much more!
Have you ever danced on NYC’s open streets? You can at Summer Spaces with The Fresh Air Fund! Last summer, The Fresh Air Fund welcomed American Ballet Theatre teaching artists to lead dance workshops for Fresh Air kids!

We loved cheering Fresh Air kids on as they showcased their creativity during our Fresh Air Everywhere virtual camp! Check out our Fresh Air Activity Library to watch interactive videos and see what all the fun is about!

GOOAALLL!  In Open Spaces at Pelham Bay Park, Alexander puts his soccer skills to the ultimate test. In partnership with the City Parks Foundation, Open Spaces offers an exciting and educational way for children 12-15 to learn about the environment, sports and STEM!
At Fresh Air Family Wellness at Camp Junior, families enjoyed spending time outdoors but kayaking may be what they remember most!
You can’t rain on this parade! Children at Fresh Air Summer Spaces in the Bronx created their own customized and colorful umbrellas!  
Raise your hand if you’re having fun! Campers show off their creations exploring themes like mystery and time travel during Fresh Air Everywhere. Our virtual camp Fresh Air Everywhere focuses on bringing the outdoors in through interactive activities with everything you need in your very own “camp in a box” kit!

I really liked planting my own seed from my camp box. I watched it grow all summer and it was so cool!
