Camp Junior Summer Olympics: How Camp Fosters Team Building and Connection
This summer, Camp Junior hosted its very own Summer Olympic Games. Campers participated in outdoor sports, exciting activities, and games that required teamwork, creativity and some fun competition. Let’s see what our campers had to say about the Camp Olympics!
Behind the Scenes at the Camp Junior Olympics

Liam, 11, explains: “There’s two teams, the fire team and the ice team. We do a bunch of different activities, like basketball and kayaking, and after those activities they count up all the points and whichever team has the most wins the competition!”

“Today is special because it only happens once every camp session. I tried basketball for the first time and it was really fun,” said Liam. “My favorite activity is Gaga ball.”
Basketball, Relay Races, Kayaking and More!
Throughout the day, campers competed in a range of different outdoor activities. From basketball, soccer and Gaga ball, to kayaking, frisbee and a relay race, campers got to spend time outdoors and play fun games in the sunshine.

Campers took the competition to the lake, paddling kayaks out to buoys and using teamwork and communication to steer back to shore before the other team.

“I loved kayaking because it took teamwork and kindness,” said Jayden, 11. Jayden’s favorite part of camp is the opportunity to spend time with all the friends he has made over the summer. “I like camp because I get to spend more time outside. I’m going to tell my friends camp is fun, the people are very kind, and you get to have fun and play games.”

Basketball was action packed and fun, giving campers a chance to enjoy some friendly competition while shooting hoops and working towards the goal of a big win for their team.
Makayla, who hopes to become a Counselor-in-Training next summer, shared what she loves most about camp.

“So far today I have played volleyball, basketball and racing,” said Makayla. “Basketball was my favorite and we learned a lot of new skills! In my day-to-day life, I don’t really get the opportunity to be outside this much and learn from other people. Without camp I wouldn’t be able to do this. I think this is such a monumental part of our lives, that we get to experience new environments, new activities and gain more confidence.”

Lessons Learned

Roberto, 9, explains his passion for competing and shares what he learned from the Olympics.
“It’s really fun to do the Olympics because I like to run around, play outside and compete! I learned that it doesn’t matter who wins or loses. It’s still fun to play and you can always try again next year!”
