A Summer to Remember 

Summer 2022 was truly a summer that will last a lifetime! Check out some of our favorite summer moments. From camp to Friendly Towns and Summer Spaces – the summer was full of a lot of smiles and a lot of fun! 

Whether it was their first-time fishing or what they liked most about camp Fresh Air kids and teens shared some of their favorite summer memories:  

“At camp, I love being in nature and by the lake because it really clears your head. Meeting new people is another great part about coming to camp – having such a great experience with new people is inspiring and makes it all worth it.” – Nicholas, 15 

“Time flies by when you’re at camp because you’re having so much fun. You’re meeting and getting to know new people from different boroughs and different countries.” – Oscar, 16 

“My favorite activity at camp is fishing. I learned to fish and caught a fish bigger than my head! At camp, I love doing cheers as a group because it makes us all feel like we’re a team.” – Avvi, 11 

“I keep coming back to The Fresh Air Fund because I love the people, the experiences and the activities.  The storytelling workshops with the Journalism program have helped me express my feelings in writing when I can’t put them in speaking words!” -Annabelle, 16

Children connected with nature during outdoor activities including kayaking, fishing, archery and hiking! They had adventures filled with building confidence, making new friends, developing leadership skills, exploring the outdoors and a lot of fun! 

“One of the most important things about being a child is that your work is play and that’s how you learn to be who you are – you play and make friendships and that is what we offer. We made very intentional plans on how to train staff for that and to let parents know that this is an opportunity for their children to re-engage those parts of themselves that they haven’t for the last two years,” The Fresh Air Fund’s CEO, Lisa Gitelson sharing about the impact of Summer 2022.
