How will my child’s profile be protected?
All registration information and virtual profiles which participants create are stored securely in our database.
How will you protect children from cyberbullying?
The Fund does not tolerate bullying and our staff are trained to recognize the signs of cyber-bullying and how to address it. We also take many steps to create a welcoming online community where participants respect and support one another. Staff members including social workers will be available for prevention, support and addressing any situation that may occur.
Do I need to log on for my child?
No. The program is designed for campers to log on and participate independently. Of course, they may need guidance the first one or two times they log on.
Will I need to help my child and provide supervision during the program?
No, the program is designed for campers to participate independently.
What happens if my child is enrolled and can no longer participate?
Please let us know as soon as possible if your child cannot participate in the session they are registered for. We may be able to place your child in another session and give another child an opportunity to participate.
What are the activities?
Activities include learning about nature, arts and crafts, STEM and movement activities like yoga. Our Fresh Air Everywhere Virtual Camp program brings the outdoors indoors and helps children explore and discover new interests – all while connecting with other children, counselors and having fun!
Do I need to have any materials?
A device with a working camera, microphone and access to the internet is recommended. As the program is virtual and participants will enjoy the program more if they are able to actively participate and engage. The Fresh Air Fund will mail a supply box ahead of time that will include everything else you need to participate.
What if my child can’t attend a day?
Please let your child’s counselors know if your child needs to miss a day.
Who will be interacting with and supervising my child?
Each camper will be assigned a bunk group with 14 children and 2 counselors. They will be in the same group all week. Each activity will be taught by a specialist who has been trained to facilitate virtual programs.
Can my other children participate, if they are not enrolled?
We encourage you to register each child so that they can each attend sessions for their appropriate age group. Your other children are welcome to listen in and participate.
Is the platform available in multiple languages?
The platform is only available in English, but The Fresh Air Fund staff are available to provide technical help or other support in multiple languages. Please call 800-367-0003 with any questions. We are here to help!
Can my child participate in more than one session?
Depending on program demand, we may be able to offer children the opportunity to attend more than one session of programming, but please note the program activities will be the same for all sessions.
How are counselors screened?
Counselors are screened with a thorough application process which includes an interview, background check and references.
